Our Story

Midnight Storm Studios, LLC. was born out of late-night conversations, wild daydreams, and a shared love of technology, games, and helping others. Founded in March 2017 by Brian McCoy, his nephew Derek Hennett, and his father Gary McCoy, our company stands as a testament to resilience, faith, and family—weathering more than a few literal and metaphorical storms along the way.

We started with a simple dream: to combine our skills in tech support, gaming, and software development, and to create a business that could adapt to whatever the world (or life) threw our way. Over the years, we’ve evolved from on-site tech support (thanks, COVID, for the plot twist) to a forward-thinking focus on game development, AI research, and educational outreach.

Our mission is simple:
Bring innovation, creativity, and a little Southern heart to the world of technology—while keeping the “human” in “human-computer interaction.”

Meet the Founders

Brian McCoy – The Relentless Problem Solver

  • Air Force veteran, software developer, AI enthusiast, and the guy who’s always asking, “What if…?”
  • Brian now lives in Florida, but Midnight Storm Studios’ roots—and business address—are back home in Virginia, thanks to the family homestead and his ever-supportive parents.
  • When not working, you’ll find him tinkering with servers, exploring new tech, or brainstorming ways to bring value and encouragement to the world.

Derek Hennett – The Creative Spark

  • Brian’s nephew, partner-in-crime, and fellow founding member.
  • A gamer, aspiring developer, and all-around “let’s try it!” kind of guy. Currently lives in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.
  • Together, Derek and Brian envisioned a company where ideas could flow, games & code could be tested, and creativity didn’t have to wait for permission.

Gary McCoy – The Quiet Foundation

  • Brian’s dad and the true definition of “support.”
  • Provided not just the official business address, but also years of wisdom, encouragement, and practical grounding for the company.
  • The go-to guy for a level head and a reminder that every storm eventually passes.

Toby Ingram — Resident Tinkerer, RC/Diesel Enthusiast, Game Asset Generation

  • The youngest member of the Midnight Storm Studios crew. If it runs on diesel, races by remote control, or transforms from a truck to a robot, Toby is your go-to expert.
  • From an early age, he’s had a passion for engines, hands-on tinkering, and sharing what he learns with others.
  • He’s contributed his skills in artwork and game asset generation to our projects and brings a contagious enthusiasm to everything he touches.
